Building Description

The 60×60 footprint is the most frequently recommended configuration among general aviation hangar builders – and for good reason. Two high-wing aircraft with 36-foot wingspans fit side by side with approximately 12 feet of combined buffer space, allowing each aircraft to be moved independently without ground handling conflicts. Alternatively, the full 3,600 square feet supports a single twin-engine aircraft such as a Beechcraft Baron or Piper Seneca with generous working clearance on all four sides.

The 16-foot eave height is the defining upgrade over standard 12 and 14-foot structures. It accommodates T-tail configurations, taller vertical stabilizers found on light twins, and provides the vertical clearance needed for a 14-foot bifold or hydraulic door – the industry-preferred opening for turboprop-class aircraft. This eave height also allows installation of overhead storage systems and ceiling-mounted maintenance lighting without restricting aircraft access.

The rigid steel frame is engineered without interior columns, preserving the full floor plan for aircraft storage, preflight preparation, and maintenance work. The structure is pre-engineered to regional wind and snow load specifications and is compatible with standard poured concrete slab foundations. Available configurations include insulation packages, personnel entry doors, skylight panels, and electrical rough-in provisions to support year-round hangar operations across all U.S. climate zones.
